Many paranormal investigators use crystals for protection whilst investigating a haunted location. Below is a selection of crystals that can be used for psychic protection, and the grounding of energies when we have been working, or finding our energy unbalanced and out of control.

What do Differant Crystals do?

1. Apache Tears: (obsidian variant) Provides psychic protection and grounding, draws light to the base Chakra and provides powerful psychic protection. These small, dark, smoky-translucent Obsidian pebbles ease and release pain, loss, sadness and anger, helping to heal and go on with life. It is good for looking within, protection and vision quest, gently grounds and unblocks lower body and endocrine glands. The name represents tears shed by Native American women after the death of a loved one at the hands of the white invader. 2. Hematite: This is one of the most grounding of all stones, it condenses fuzziness into mental clarity, aids concentration, memory, self-control, practicality, original thinking, helps study, bookkeeping and all types of detail work. Promotes sound sleep, confidence, willpower and boldness. It was used in ancient Egypt to calm hysteria and anxiety. Yang. Physically benificial to the spleen and good for cleansing the blood. In common with black stones it can provide protection by deflection. Good for jet lag, stress, birth and the after-effects of anaesthesia. 3. Jet: This black mineral is a type of coal formed from carbonised wood. It has been used for protection against illness and personal attack by many European civilisations, since ancient times. People were even buried with it to protect them in the afterlife. It was used by the ancient Greeks for toothache, like all dark stones it is an excellent grounder. Good talisman for first half Capricorn. 4. Obsidian: Made from volcanic glass, this is a protection stone for sensitive or psychic people, providing a wonderful screen against negative energy. It grounds the higher energies through the base Chakra, balancing the digestive and intestinal systems. A good stone to carry around with you, or for those born in the second half of Virgo , it can be placed on a bed side table for night protection in the dreamstate. Black obsidian is the Wizard stone, which holds back negativity and in a large chunk can be a psychic door opener. It is a benevolent stone which cannot be misused, as only positive energy can work with its sphere of influence. In the egg shape it is very powerful as it draws upon itself infinitely. This Obsidian is highly recomended for all psychics. 5. Snowflake Obsidian: This is the intermediary phase when all colours combine to create white embodied in the black protection of obsidian. A good stone to use in times of change for a balanced attitude. Can be used in meditation and astral travel. This is a recording stone which aids psychic hearing (clairaudience). It is also a powerful absorber of negative energies and can be used for clearing. But needs regular cleansing if subjected to negative energies. 6. Pyrite: One of the most grounding stones available, its primary usees are for focus, practicality, logic, memory and clearning muddled thinking. Relates to the third Chakra, aiding stomach and intestines, helping to prevent and cure ulcers, aiding sulphur and mineral assimilation, circulation and body acidity imbalances. Also effective against depression, lack of clarity. Wonderful grounding stone for spaciness after meditation or psychic readings.
